Research Methodologies in Computer Science (Vers 2).
A good Computer Science thesis adopts particular methods for technical endeavors such as designs, specifications, and evaluations of systems, theories or other entities. Your thesis should identify the practices you are going to adopt that are relevant to nature of your thesis (a design, evaluation, implementation, analysis, etc.) and provide clear rationale for particular choices of method.
Words don't have a fixed meaning, and dictionaries only follow usage here. That is what is happening here. The “classical” meaning of methodology is (my own words): a branch of epistemology that studies scientific methods, i.e. the systematic, theoretical analysis of the methods applied in science. Students will also write and review research proposals. The paper and proposal topics will be selected by the participants based on their research interests. We will start out with a few meetings where we discuss background topics such as: Research methods in Computer Science General advice about writing technical papers in English What to read.
