Year 6 Spelling Lists, Including 2014 curriculum.
The homework that children are given relates to and embeds what they have been learning about in school. Throughout the year projects relating to work covered in class may be sent home. The children will receive Spelling, Grammar and Punctuation (SPAG) and maths homework on a Friday and this will be marked the following Friday.
If they have to look up a spelling when they are doing some writing, or if they come across an interesting word when they are reading, they can make a note, and choose a few words each week to practice. Words you should know by the end of Year 6. The National Curriculum expects children to be able to spell all of these words by the end of Year 6.

Mrs Muddiman also works alongside both Year 6 classes. We work hard in Y6 to make sure we are ready for the end of KS2 and the next stage of our education, but we have great fun in our learning too. We study the following topics throughout the year: Hola Mexico, A Child’s War, Frozen Kingdom, Blood Heart and we finish the year with a Local History Project.

Welcome to Year 6! Our aim in Year 6 is to prepare the children academically, socially and emotionally for the all important move to Secondary School. We have an established and extensive transition programme with all local Secondary Schools and we are commited to working in partnership with Year 7 staff to ensure our children make a smooth and successful move as they leave Shottermill Juniors.
